Hi All,

Just as an experiment, I used Bluetooth to pair my iPhone with my Macbook Pro. I paired them with no probs, but I can't actually find anything to do (I haven't found a way to sync them, for example).

Anybody know if there is any functionality available to a paired iphone and MBP?

(pairing a bluetooth headset _is_ useful, btw :-)

Did you look at such things as Bluetooth File Transfer? Have you set up your iPhone with iSync? These are really simple things, but they aren't "pop out at you" obvious when you first start playing. It took me a while to figure them out with my RAZR...

Thanks for those pointers, I've never had a bluetooth phone before (well, that's not exactly true, but my last two phones were Windows Mobile smartphones, and I gave up numerous times trying to get them to talk with my Macs). As for the iPhone and BT, you filled me with hope...until it was crushed:

BT file transfer: "iSync cannot connect to this device"
Browse files: "This device does not have the necessary services"

It makes sense to not attempt to sync music and videos via bluetooth, but calendars, address book and other small amounts of data should not choke BT's bandwidth.

I wonder why Apple make it possible to sync the iPhone with a computer? Me, I'm hoping that a future update will allow for calendar and address sync'ing (and that Apple just accidentally left this functionality in, without it having anything to do beyond BT headsets).

Thanks again for the info,

Chas
