anyone here have the v-modas? i hear they sound great but are poor quality, and lots of them break easily and don't last long. any other ones worth looking at.

Try the Shure e4c - they're the best (for a mere $400+)

I have the v-modas, and I love em. I used my $100 rebate from Apple to get them. 100x better than Apples headset, and they match the iPhone better. Sound is great, and have yet to have a complaint about how I sound to others via the microphone on the headset.

I've had mine for a few months now, and they are still like new. I'm not very rugged with them. I highly recommend them.

Not sure about the "best", but I have these:

Rivet

I love 'em. The cord is nylon-weave, it has a neck lanyard and they sound great. VERY inexpensive for what you get.

Funny - I also used my $100 rebate to buy the v-modas. I love them for their sound and their fit. I have a pair of Shure buds, and regardless of what size earbud I used with them, they were never really comfortable. The v-modas seem pretty durable to me, and more durable than the stock iPhone earbuds.

V-Moda Vibe Duo for iPhone owner here.

Very, very happy with my headset. Lots of low-end, which if it bugs me I just EQ to "Treble Booster" and it's all good. Truthfully, the V-Modas sound great with no EQ at all. But everyone's ears are different.

I've read reviews that the call button is "hard to find," and that the material-wrapped cord lends to "noise." I've found neither to be true for me. A vast improvement over any Apple ear bud set. Folks I call say they can hear me just fine, even in the car.

-5G white iPod 30GB; original U2 iPod 20GB mono; now on 32GB Black iPhone 4
-...oh, and a PC too.

On the full ear side of headphones, I use the Amazon.com: Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones: Electronics with Amazon.com: Shure MPA-3C Music Phone Adapter for iPhone: Electronics plugged into the iPhone for the mic and play/pause button.

Another Vibe Duo owner here. The only downsides to these phones are a) the call button on the cord can be a bit hard to find, and b) they don't block out as much ambient sound as other inner-ear phones. Actually, I think if they did block out more sound, it would feel really strange talking on the phone with them in....

Apart from those two minor points, they are superb. I can't believe there's any complaints about the quality of manufacturing because they headphones feel as if they have been turned out of a solid block of metal.

cool i was reading reviews on apple.com and a lot of people complained they fall apart within months of ownership. I'd sure hate a $99 pair of headphones to last a few months.

I'm sure it depends on how you use the headphones. If you're constantly putting them in and out of a bag, or other strenuous activity then I could see them falling apart. But at least for me, they seem to be pretty solid.

I'm using the Sennheiser PX250 noise cancelling over ear headphones with the Shure Mobile Phone Adapter. Great combo. I also have a pair of Sony earbuds that I use with the Shure MPA for times I don't need the noise cancelling. Only downside using the MPA is you have to lace up the headphones cables so that the mic/switch can be clipped in a reasonable place for hands free phone answering.

Absolutely. They work with my 5G iPod, my MacBook, and with a PeeCee I use at work sometimes. Still have yet to have an issue with my Vibe Duos.

I'm on my 3rd set of V-Moda Vibe headphones. The first two fell apart after a couple months of use. The V-Moda people were pretty decent about replacing them but still a PITA.

Shure's are very very nice. I have a pair and had Sensaphonics make custom earmolds. Fantastic for the airplane and any loud environment. Nobody can borrow them---but they are a pain if you have to take them out a lot.
