(Apologies is this issue has been discussed before, I could not find it.)

Here's the case. I use IMAP on both my Macbook under Leopard and on my iPod touch. Email's hosted on private server, nothing fancy about the setup.

But, when I access my IMAP account via the iPod, Mail.app stops checking for new email. So, when coming home after a day in the office, with occasional email-checking on the iPod, emails arrived during the day (and received on the iPod) are not on my Macbook. Furthermore, clicking "Get Mail" does not help, only a "Synchronize" operation or Mail.app restart makes it go collect new emails from the server.

I unticked the "Use IDLE command..." checkbox believing that it might help, but to no avail.

I'm lost. Any ideas/suggestions?

This has happened to my dad too with his touch, but not mine. I'll be sure and let you know if we figure something out
