Does anyone know of an app that would let me view text-messages / notices from my iPhone on my iMac when the phone is docked?

What I'm dreaming of is growl-like notices when I receive a text on my phone. I'd also like a growl-like notice when a call comes in whilethe phone is docked.

if it's not jailbroken.. and if it is.. I haven't heard of anything

my dream is to be like this. Your sitting on your computer and you got something on your iPhone wile it is docked, so you you move your mouse across your screen and on to your iphone, you click where you want to go and load up your text message and start typing away or do other things

that is my dream app

Hmm. I'm not sure that will ever happen, using the iPhone as some sort of mini display that will work with your mouse/keyboard, but I do really hope to someday have some sort of app for OS X that provides menu-bar icons for voicemail, SMS, etc, similar to the dock on the iPhone. When you get a text, e-mail, or voicemail they'll appear in the menu bar, and a growl-like notification will appear.

There's something kind of similar for Windows/Windows Mobile, called Sidewindow. It extends your desktop onto a PDA, so you can have your MSN contact list or other small app displaying on the PDA and off your main screen. But what you described sounds like moving the mouse over to the iPhone OS, not an extended mac desktop.

The thing that I've always wanted to do - if I'm listening to a podcast and dock the phone, it would be *so* cool if it would pause the iPhone, bring up iTunes, and continue playing the podcast.

There is that iPhone simulator in the SDK. Perhaps there will be an app that will allow the phone to pop up when docked - how cool would it be to answer a call through the Mac speakers and microphone?

Address book would do it, but in Leopard those features are disabled. If you complain to Apple, maybe they will bring it back? IN OS10.4 you can SMS in Address book through your cellphone. According to Apple site it's suppose to be there in Leopard (they may have taken it down). Since iPhone uses itunes, I'm assuming Apple disabled that function for other phone users and you can't use iPhone functions with Address book. iPhones service isn't available in all areas so most of us won't buy something you can't use.
