Hey everyone..I need some help since my local Apple store couldn't help me.

Whenever I travel with my IPOD 30gig and we're up in the air (after it's safe to turn on electronic devices) my ipod runs for a few minutes then freezes up and makes an awful clicking sounds...1st the video I'm watching looses sounds and then it locks all up. I'm unable to reboot it or even shut it off. I have to wait til we land and then it's fine. My daughter, whom travels with me often, has the exact same IPOD and she is able to use it in the air all the time. My last flight (yesterday) I had the same issues but her's worked the entire way.

Any suggestions or ideas as to what is causing this? I took it to the Apple store the 1st time this happened (previous flight) and they only could tell me "everything is fine, the harddrive makes sounds, and to put it thru itunes and reformat it" Well obviously that doesn't work!

Anyone else seen this happen and what did you do?

Thanks

iPods are supposedly good to work up to 10,000 feet, and airplanes are pressurized at about 8,000 feet, so it should be fine.

When I had the third generation iPod it did that to me on some international flights. It turned out to be the hard drive dying. Shortly after I got back home it refused to turn on ever again. Apple replaced it for me.

I doubt the altitude caused the issue but it wouldn't work on the plane.
