My battery stopped holding a charge suddenly so I replaced it, but it didn't help. Immediately after replacing it, I left it charging via USB for many, many hours and it got up to about 30%. It wouldn't go past that no matter what. It worked fine otherwise. I actually unplugged it to use it the next day, killed the battery listening to music for about an hour, and now I can't get it up to 30% even and as soon as I unplug it from either FireWire or USB it immediately turns off completely. When I use USB, the "Very low battery please wait" never goes away. I did go into diagnostic mode, but I have no clue what anything really means in there, but all the tests seem to have passed.

anything else i can try or is it time for a new ipod?

do you know if you started having those battery problems after you made any updates to your itunes? your problem is kinda similar to mine...check out my post http://forums.macnn.com/103/ipod-iph...working-after/

have you made any progress so far? after i get myself a portable hdd im gonna try reformatting & restoring my ipod.
