I live between Dubai and Prague. The Czech Rep seems to be getting the iPhone soon. If I buy an iPhone here and am using it on the local Czech carrier, what happens if I move back to the US? Is there a way to transfer the phone to AT&T in the US... or do I have to buy a new iPhone?

I realize the Czech phone will work in the US while travelling, but not at US rates.

You'll need to buy a new iPhone in each country. Apple does not allow moving phones to different carriers.

All you have to do is unlock it and it will work with any SIM card.

The current iPhone is very easy to unlock. It needs to be done only once (possibly once per firmware update). On the new iPhone we don't know yet how easy unlocking will be, but with time it will likely be as easy as on the current iPhone. People are imaginative. They'll come up with an easy solution within a short while.
