I was just a bit curious, given the stroke of genius AT&T had when they raised their prices by ten dollars. Are residents of other countries seeing their 3G costs spiraling out of control as well?

Come July 11, will your cellphone bill skyrocket too? Is the cellphone operator Apple has partnered with in your nation known to screw their customers [more than the others]?

To get what the iPhone plan had before with AT&T, you also need to add another $10-15 for SMS.

-$200 from the initial cost, +$480-600 to the monthly cost over the contract life

Those "free" iPhone deals only make sense if you need the extra minutes.

18 x (£45-£35) >> £100

Of course. The £35 deal will be the sweet spot for most.

Spot on. Also, O2 have signed up with BTOpenzone to provide the wifi access (in addition to 'The Cloud' as before) which is fantastic news. BTOpenzone hotspots seem to be everywhere, although now that I will soon have free access to them, they will no doubt mysteriously disappear.

...and to directly address the question from the OP, the UK rates are the same as before with some important (all positive) exceptions:

* A new monthly tariff at £30 (USD60) which is lower than the previous lowest (£35).
* Free phones on some (expensive) tariffs
* Pay as you go pricing for the first time (details not yet available)
* Many more free wifi hotspots included

Looking good.
