Does anyone know in a general sense how capable or non capable the iPhone is at displaying 2d and 3d graphics? I ask because, if no one has realized it, the iPhone concept has the potential to be a rather decent gaming device, assuming it can power some good graphics.
Seems like everything is heading to download, and I personally am in love with the thought of a portable gaming device with built in hard drive so all I have to do is buy and d/l my games.
I don't expect this to come to fruition for a couple of years, but apple IMO is certainly laying framework for becoming a portable gaming contender.
So, is the iPhone graphic wise even on par with the DS?

From the demos that people have shown, yes. It seems to perform well enough with 2D and 3D games.
The biggest limitation is that it lacks the gamepad controls that are needed for twitch games.

I don't think Apple has designed or has any desire to compete with the DS to that end, I'd be surprised if it had the graphical horsepower on par with the DS.
I'm sure there will be some games developed for it, but no where near the capabilities, depth and performance of the DS - IMHO

re: horsepower
You need to read an article from a couple of months ago at Roughly Drafted magazine. It compares the iPhone to the DS & PSP, both in terms of hardware and expected 2.0 software features.
It's a lengthy article (they usually are) but provides great detail.

I stand corrected, it does look like it has sufficient horsepower.
