hi all. i have an imac and an atv. i know that i can play music in my imac and set remote speakers to the atv so that the same music is played in that room, but i am wondering if i can do the opposite: play music on the atv and have the "remote speakers" set to my imac. any ideas? thanks.

Nope. If you play from the atv, you only get sound from the atv.

If you play from iTunes, you can sync with the atv and any other Airport Express modules you have. It's more or less a one-way street...

Hopefully another easy related question:

To play my iTunes content and stream it to my aTV, is it as simple as selecting the aTV as the device (as opposed to Computer) at the bottom of iTunes? Do I have to do anything at the aTV level? Because I tried that setting it to my aTV but nothing came out so I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Damack: Do you have speakers attached to your tv?

OP - not the same thing, but you could do the "Multiple Speakers..." thing in iTunes and have it stream music to your tv while playing through your iMac's speakers at the same time.

well, I have speakers attached to my receiver, which is attached to the apple TV if that's what you're asking. In other words, my apple TV plays movies and music just fine at the moment. I just want to see if I can stream from my iTunes on my computer to the apple TV like I could with the airport express.
