With my new iPod, I received a coupon for 25 free music downloads from eMusic. How does this service compare with the iTunes Store? Will the downloads automatically go into my iTunes library?

Thanks!

Dunno but it's a subscription based service so you have to continually pay for the privilege of being able to access the content downloaded from them. If you stop paying, it all goes away.

eMusic is mostly indie labels and DRM free; iTunes is mostly the big labels and DRM crippled.
What kind of music do you like and how do you feel about Digital Restrictions Management?
Amazon is a good alternative to iTunes; big labels and DRM free. Their downloader app adds the music you download right into iTunes.

Wow, what a load of FUD. eMusic is DRM-free MP3s; if you stop paying, you keep it all!

No FUD. This is the first music subscription service I've seen that let you keep the music if you stopped paying.

It seems like a good deal actually.

I love emusic. It's not quite as easy as the iTunes store, but you can't beat the price. I get 90 downloads a month for $20 bucks. That breaks out to something like 20 cents a song. I usually get 5 or 6 albums a month for $20. You do to keep everything, even after you quit. DOn't listen to that other guy. It's not a traditional subscription model.

I think they've changed the pricing a bit since I signed up, so you might only be able to get 75 songs for $20 now. I'm not 100% sure.

That said, just browse around and see if they have stuff you want. You can save albums for later. I never have a problem finding 90 songs I want. I always count down the days to when my downloads reset and I get everything on the first day.

Yu have to go and manually add album art, but when the songs are that cheap, who cares.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.
