Hi.
I'm traveling to the US in order to work for six months. I intend on buying an iPhone from ATT and paying for the plan for 5-6 months, then paying the ETF and bringing the phone home. I am not a US-citizen, and I do not have a SSN.
Is that possible?
Also, if it is possible, is it possible (perhaps legally required for ATT? - like where I come from) for me to get the unlock code for the iPhone afterwords, so that I can use it in my homecountry?
Much appreciated.

They probably would ask your SSN.

You probably would not get an official unlock code so you would have to hack it yourself or stay on as an AT&T customer roaming in Canada. If you did unlock it yourself, you would likely not be able to qualify for the iPhone data plan at either Rogers or Fido and would likely end up having to pay even more for a data package/usage.

It's alright, I'm not from Canada, I'm from Western Europe.
I've heard that they take some sort of deposit from people that do not have a SSN - but I do not know whether that's true. It's totally fair, it would just be nice to know if it is true, and if it is how much.
