I am selling my 1stGen iPhone to a former student who just wants to use it as an iPod and the calendar and all. He doesn't need to use the phone. My question is. Once I get my new iPhone how do I configure or make sure the iPod will work for him without the phone? Will he be able to use all the other features of the iPhone and not the phone itself?

thanks for any help

Just remove the SIM and delete any info you don't want him to see. However, I must warn you, the information may still be accessible. One option to prevent this, supposedly, is to wait to sell it to him AFTER you've upgraded to firmware 2.0. This firmware will securely remove your data.

Let me know if you need any clarification or further info.

(Update: What a great way to make my 50th post. Finally, after almost two years, I'm no longer a "Fresh-faced Recruit."

Yep. I believe that iTunes 7.7 will recognize un-activated 2G iPhones as just regular iPods.
