I had a bit of a weird experience this morning when I went looking for a 16GB iPhone at a Fido dealer in my neighborhood.
It happened at one store I'd called earlier in the week - they had said the iPhone would go on sale July 11, and that they would have 'some' in stock. I went to this store right when it opened, and was told rather rudely by the sales clerk that they were already sold out. When I pointed out that the launch was today, and I was the first customer, the guy just said "I sold them all yesterday". It sounds like the store was selling the phones before the launch, or had allowed customers to 'reserve' iPhones, both of which are probably prohibited by Apple and Fido.
The other Fido dealers I went to were fairly courteous, and I actually could have got an 8GB phone no problem without any wait. However nobody seemed to have any 16GB phones, which is what I was looking for.
I'll wait for the phone I ordered from Fido by calling customer service, but the experience with the guy who "sold them all yesterday" made a bad impression. I wonder if there's a way to complain - I hope they are last on the list for getting more inventory.
