If you get your current location on a 3G and then double tap, it zooms in on your location as expected with the blue dot seen in the Stevenote. But there is also a dimmer solid blue circle that surrounds blue dot (not the pulsating circle outline which is also there). Anyone know what this means?

That is a sort of general location marker. I also think it might be what the iPhone finds with WiFi triangulation, but I'm not sure.

I've seen this on other GPS devices: it'll plot your location but take into account the accuracy, e.g., 15 meters, and draw a buffer of that margin of error (15 meters) around your location.

On many GPS devices this is a measure of the accuracy. On the iPhone it could be that too or the result of cell phone tower / WiFi triangulation.
