How can I set my iPhone to have shuffle on by default? Am I doomed to hearing "About Her" every time I click my earphone play button?

Touch the cover art of the currently playing song. press the shuffle icon to the right of the progress bar, it'll turn blue. You'll shuffle from now on.

Yep, that one is dumb. For all it's gloss and fancy transitions, the iPhone interface feels like it was handled by 3-5 different design teams.
