I just got a new 'Touch this week. I downloaded the 2.0 software (paid for it, which is a rip-off) and it won't synch. I also downloaded the AOL chat application. It's sitting there in my Applications folder, but it won't synch to the iPod either. Is this a known issue with iPods? The manual says it should "automatically sycnch" when connected.

Did you check the little box under the applications tab to sync it?

Yes, I hit 'synch' and it then told me it was completed at the top of the screen. I have not loaded anything else to it - this is a brand new unit I just bought July 16th. Still does not appear on my iPod. I'm not going to pay for the 2.0 either, since it didnt' synch. Not real happy with Apple right now after what I spent. The unit was correctly connected to the USB port, and was completely charged as well. Still says Vers 1.1.5 after it supposedly 'synched' 2.0. WTF?

Oh sorry, I misread your first post, and thought you had successfully upgraded to 2.0, but just couldn't get the app to sync.

Maybe I'm just not understanding because we're using different terminology here... But. Well, you don't "synch" the 2.0 software for starters. You must Update or Restore. Since you have nothing on it, it should be safe to restore.

Indeed! I did a restore and that did it. Just some new terms to understand with a new gadget. I work in IT - not a hardware guy! (Joke) Downloaded the 2.0 again (system told me 'no charge' since I'd done it once - nice touch. Downloaded the AOL chat and it's like being on my desktop (Intel Mini). I felt emboldened, and downloaded some 70's tunes as well. Thanks for the replies folks. I started out on an Apple IIe back in '83. Used a Newton 110 in the 90's (still works!) Howzat!
