OK, so a bright spark came up with the idea of forwarding one's main email account to .Mac, in order to get this account via push email on the iPhone.

The trouble is that then, one's replies are from ....@mac.com, rather than the main email account.

So I thought, why not use the outgoing mail server of the main email account, with .Mac as the incoming server? I changed the settings on my desk top, and synced across to my iPhone.

This works great on my desk top, but, for some reason, the iPhone didn't like the outgoing settings synced across from from the desk top, and came up with a kind of hybrid version, including 'SSL' and port 587, neither of which my main email account uses.

So I don't seem to be able to send emails from the iPhone in this way.

Anyone else tried this? Any work-arounds?

Thanks
