I just bought an ipod touch, bought the update (2.0) and am ready to connect to wifi-that is the real reason I wanted a touch-I already have a classic, nano, shuffle....
I have reset the touch (networking, wifi) as per apples' help site, and restored it and no luck.
I guess I expected the touchs' wifi to work like my macbook- ie: when it "sees" an open wifi, it askes to connect, and I do and we're off and online.
My touch, will see an unlocked network, ask to join, (yep) and it'll show I'm connected, but safari tells me I'm "not connected to the internet." I've read that some "unlocked" networks are really locked, and something in the settings needs to be done to get on. I stopped at a Apple repair store and he got on their local network, but try as I can, I've had no luck getting on open networks. I read somewhere that the DSN? and ip addresses need to be the same (when the touch fills those fields in)? Why doesn't the macbook need these things typed in, or should the touch do this all by it self?
I just want this thing to work and so far it hasn't.
