My 80GB iPod warranty expired 2 months ago. The hard drive crashed. For a hoot I made an appointment* with my local Apple store's Genius Bar. He checked it out, shook his head and handed me a replacement.

* Appointments seem to be mandatory due to demand. You can make them online.
