I did the math using my AT&T bill and I used approximately 996 MB for my last billing cycle. Curious to see how people's usage.

For me, it was mainly due to downloading various apps over 3G and most importantly, browsing the occasional webpage. Hardly any videos (e.g. Youtube) watched over the network. Also, internet radio while going to work everyday.

I've had my 3G for just over a month and have only used 140 MB. I have two email accounts running all the time and do a decent amount of web browsing on it. I don't stream much audio/video though.

I seem to be around 400 MB. But I consider that fairly light use. I am within wifi a lot of the time (office, university buildings, home, airports) and I don't tether (I use a 3G modem with my MBP) so I really only use data on my iPhone when I don't have my MBP with me.

That said, I'm sill glad I got the unlimited turbo-3G option from my carrier here (~$47/month). I hate watching my volume.

I've only used about 145 MB. That's with frequent mail checking, light RSS use, light google map use and occasional web browsing.

I used a little over 150 MB in 9 days, but then I cancelled data. Since reactivating it 7 days ago, I've used a little under 110 MB according to my usage counter. And, most of the time I am in WiFi range.

I didn't think I'd use YouTube much, but to my surprise I do use it from time to time. For example, with the app Admit One, it scans my local theatres and tells me what's playing, and then provides a link to the trailer. I may watch the trailer from that app utilizing YouTube, but never actually exit the app myself to go to YouTube.

Another app that would be a big data waster is Simplify Media, but I don't actually use it that much since my commute is mostly in the car listening to the radio. If I were on the bus though, I'd probably use it quite a bit.

Oh and I email a fair number of pix to people (and myself). I also read email Word file and PDF attachments on my phone.

Rogers says their statistics indicate that only 1 person used more than 6 GB in a month (what was his bill?!?!?), and 95% used less than 0.5 GB, with over 90% using less than 200 MB. Note, Rogers'/Fido's plans specifically DO allow tethering.

Hence, they will update their plans to:

500 MB - $25
1 GB - $30
2 GB - $50
3 GB - $60
8 GB - $80

The current 6 GB for $30 three-year plan deal has been extended for one more month, and then will be no longer be offered.

Judging by those 16 days with service, I could probably scrape by with 500 MB, but that limit would make me far too nervous. 1 GB would probably be more appropriate, but if I were a bus commuter, it wouldn't suffice. I'm glad I have my 6 GB plan, especially considering it costs the same $30 as the 1 GB plan does starting in October. If the 1 GB plan only cost $20 per month though, I would consider switching to it.

300 on my first month with 3G and I thought I was going apeshit and have no Wifi at work. However I discovered internet radio now so my next bill will prob be around a gig.

I usually hover around 500 MB on my (first generation) iPhone, that includes the occasional PC browsing via tethering. I’m actually paying for 5GB but I won’t get anywhere near that mark without 3G. Plus there’s really almost always a WiFi spot where I am.

This of course is typical Rogers idiocy. Instead of just extending the six GB plan indefinitely they're going back to where they excel - the nickel and diming business. If usage indicates that people don't use and abuse the 6 GB plan, then why change it?

Never thought or cared to check before now, so this usage is since first getting my 3G.

546 MB and < 5h of talk time.

My wife is the opposite.

< 200 MB and about double the talk time.
