At&T tells me I will have GSM/GPRS coverage in western Nicaragua where I am going next month. Does anyone know what to expect in the way of GPS usage? ie I know I can get gps signal but will I be able to get the maps loaded too? I would buy an international data plan which saves me a little while roaming. Anyway, am I carzy for considering this as a navigation tool?

10 day trip. western Nica only.

If you have GSM you would be able to load the maps.

Depends on the roaming charges and how much your gonna use it.

Gracias, The GSM coverage map looks like there is good coverage in Western Nicaragua but have you ever seen a coverage map that did NOT look good??

Well, not from AT&T. Nicaragua is a pretty popular tourist destination these days so I'm sure they at least have decent GSM coverage.
