Hi All,

My UK iPhone (first generation iPhone, on O2, not jailbroken) is insisting on accessing the US iTunes store (and yes, I am presently in the UK). My ID and password don't work for the US store (mine are UK only). Any ideas on how to ensure that the phone accesses the UK iTunes store? (I've looked in every pref on the phone and on iTunes on my Mac, haven't found the solution).

fyi: if relevant, the phone is on a "pay as you go" contract, not on a monthly contract.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Chas

I saw this recently. I was using my iPhone in pizza restaurant and a waiter came over to me and asked about his iPhone. His was a UK phone purchased in the normal way but it seemed to be hooked up to the US store. I couldn't work out how to get it working correctly. This thread on a rival Mac forum site suggests a setting 'within iTunes' which can be changed. I don't see this on my iPhone but you might want to see if you have something set up on yours. Maybe report back if you get it sorted. Cheers.

Hi philm, thanks for the pointer.

I just managed to sort the problem out (by accident, but I'll take whatever I can :-)

I went to the iTunes Music Store on my Mac and tried to buy something. Turns out that this store was pointing to the US store as well (which makes sense, as the iPhone takes its cues from iTunes on the computer). When I tried to buy something there (as a test), I got a dialog saying the same thing as I got on my iPhone: my account was for the UK store. _This time_, though, I got the option to change to the UK store, which I did. I then sync'ed the iPhone, and viola, UK store all around.

Yay!

Buy why this UK bought Mac would point to the US store is a mystery. Oh well, problem solved.

Thanks again for the pointer.

Cheers!

Chas

You also have the option of changing the store at the very bottom of the front page of the iTunes Store (within iTunes).
