Ok, so I used the remote App at home and loved it.

At college, they use WPA Enterprise security for wifi (802.1X). Now that Apple allows iPhones to connect 802.1X, I have my computer and iPhone both logged on to the wifi at the same time with my username/password.

The problem is, iTunes doesn't seem to detect a "remote" anywhere. I know the App uses the wifi network to connect, so is it just a limitation of the enterprise authentication that this App can't work through? Or is there a way around to get my phone to be able to link up with iTunes, the same way it works on my home network?

I'm guessing it uses Bonjour for discovery.

Why would that make it unable to work on a WPA enterprise wifi network?

Either they are blocking Bonjour, or the iPhone and the computer are on different subnets (wired vs. wireless? different access points?)

Both iPhone and the macbook are on the wireless network for my school -- the same one where you have to type in both a user-name and password to get on.

I don't think the school actively blocks bonjour, because I use the "air sharing" app on my phone through bonjour, and that works great.

check the IP address of each device and see if they are on the same subnet as mentioned above.
I would install a router in your room if need be.
