Anyway to get a voice mail off my iPhone and onto my desktop? O2 will wipe messages over a certain time and I want to keep on particular one.

I thought with the iPhone, VM are downloaded to the phone as an audio file?

voicemails are in ~/Library/Voicemail as .amr files.
or in /var/mobile/Library/Voicemail

You could also use the analogue hole - take the 1/8" to 1/8" cable used for aux in to car stereos and instead use it to the line in jack on your mac - press play on the phone, record on the mac, and record the audio in that way to preserve it.
