I recently purchased Applecare protection for my iPhone 3g due to the iPhone having problems and the free loaner phone provided by Apple. I sent my iPhone back to Apple and to my suprise a week later i received the orginal phone in the mail with a letter saying Apple would not fix my phone due to the damage not being covered under Applecare. Long story short....I have to buy a new iPhone, can I transfer the Applecare to the new phone due to Apple not being able to repair the original phone? I hate to think I spend $70 for a $30 loaner phone.
Thanks in advance.

You cannot transfer AppleCare, but you can cancel it (call 800-APL-CARE and pick "AppleCare administration") and receive a prorated refund (or full refund, if within 30 days). Then just buy new AppleCare for the new phone.
The only way AppleCare is transferred is if Apple had to replace the device. Calling Apple to find out why they won't repair the phone won't do much since AppleCare has limited access to the records. Unless of course, you can get to Customer Care or even Tier 2 support.
