Hello there, to start off, i bought the iphone 3G from a shop that claimed that the version they sold me is a never locked iphone, meaning after i take it out of the box, i just use my normal simcard, no unlocking software is required and use it like any other phone. and that is what happened, i used my sim card, no unlocking software, and even upgraded my OS to 2.2.1 from 2.2 and it never gave me trouble before, now that i travelled to another country, i used a different sim card for my i phone, and here is where trouble started...
the network indicator on the top left corner in the home page shows the Sim card's network which I am using, and it gives indication of full signal. however when i tap on the phone button, the iphone freezes for a second, and then goes back to the home page... i can’t make calls, or access the contacts that i have; while i can receive calls normally. What could be the problem and how can i fix it.
sry for the long post. and Thank you for your help in advance

Being as the phone was programmed or designed to be used with any other network than AT&T(US), there could be several issues with that. I've heard of issues where people have used the original iPhone(jailbroken) on TMobile in the US no prob. But when they go overseas, say a country where they can still get TMobile coverage, and the legitimate iPhone in on TMobile network in that counrty, their illegitimate iPhone won't work on the network because the network in that country is set to recognize such issues. The fact that you're using an overseas network SIM card for a phone that was never designed to use any other card could be the problem. Only suggestion I have is buy a legitimate iPhone, problems will most likely go away.
