My iPod nano (current gen) restarts every time the hold switch is toggled off, every time it's plugged in or unplugged from the computer, and randomly when I'm listening to things.
That wouldn't be so bad, if it weren't for the fact that after about 80% of the reboots, it will not respond to button presses or scrolling. The only input that works is the hold switch, and all that does is cause it to restart again. So, I just have to keep restarting it until the buttons happen to work. The buttons work fine when it's connected to the computer, but of course it reboots when I unplug it.
I realize that I have a lemon and it should probably just be sent back to Apple for replacement, but it's really inconvenient for me to deal with UPS for the shipping (there's no outlet here, so I have to arrange to meet them once to get the box, once to ship it out, and a third time to receive it). Besides, I'm past the point where they pay for shipping, so it would cost me $30 to get it fixed.
I've tried restoring a couple times, to no avail. Is there anything a little more invasive I can try? Is this a common problem that someone has found a solution for? Warranty-voiding solutions are fine by me, if there are any.
