Has there been any change to the need for the enterprise data plan in 3.0?

I picked up my 3GS this morning (finally all Apple all the time ) and the salesguy claimed that I had to get the enterprise data plan to use my company's exchange server. He claimed that without it the app wouldn't let me enter my password.
Based on what I am reading this is simply not true. Can I take this off my plan and save the $15 a month or have they made an update with 3.0 that will require the plan?
thanks...

Even if there aren't technical limitations, doesn't the AT&T ToS require an enterprise plan if you use Exchange?

I can't speak to what AT&T is doing, but here on the Rogers network corporate exchange mail and syncing works just fine without any special data plan, fwiw. I would try it on the regular plan first then upgrade if necessary, if that's possible.

You do not need the enterprise plan - I access my company's exchange server just fine without it.

Technically, if you are accessing a corporate Exchange server (there are people out there who run private Exchange servers), you're required to have an enterprise data plan:
Use of iPhone 3G to access corporate email, company intranet sites, and/or other business applications requires an Enterprise Data Plan for iPhone.
They don't really have an easy way of enforcing this, though - I mean, you can set up a VPN connection right in the iPhone, which means you can access a business intranet pretty easily without the business data plan.
I'd imagine they just have that data plan as a way to screw businesses who get plans for employees. The iPhone can access an Exchange server regardless of your data plan - after all, who's to say that you're not just using a wireless network to connect to your mail server? Since that doesn't use a cellular connection, it wouldn't be covered under the data plan TOS.
