Flame On. Afterburners On.
This is another music pauses on my touch note. I've monitored enough to say that the pause on my touch is 8-9 seconds. The playback resumes without missing a beat. This is a new touch with the latest OS (v3) downloaded/installed. The pauses happen with/without headphones plugged in. No specific tracks are paused. Seems to me that a higher priority task is executing something for some reason. Whatever. I have never had a music player behave this way and I truly regret buying this thingy. I can't show it off to friends/family. Flames Off. Hello, ebay....

Very strange.
I've never heard of anyone have this issue.
I'm assuming you haven't jailbroken you iPod or anything? Did you try restore it using iTunes and see if that fixes the issue?

 Hi,
Have not done jailbreak. Did re-load via itunes. Still pauses randomly, 8-9 seconds. I searched a bunch of forums and didn't see this exact problem. At first I thought it was the headphone/shorting issue. Not, so I decided to do this post. Maybe I should goto the Apple store and see if they can help.

I would. 3.0 is causing major issues all around. I took mine in and got a BRAND NEW one. I was told by the genius at the counter that my problem (greyed out wifi/no wifi) was a "known software issue".
Can't hurt to try!

Thanks for the reply. As I prepared to take the Touch to my local Apple store. I decided to zap it back to factory default & re-synch the same/other audio files. Same results... random pauses of 8-10 secs each. Then on a whim I decided to move the specific songs to my MacBook and have another go. Well, that did it! Same (pausing) tracks work fine after several days of listening. No errors for all files. My ipod Touch confidence is restored. My default laptop is a 64bit Vista box and my residual assumption is that something was pre-empting my audio stream or usb path transfers. No more pausing on audio and the video (New Voyages) files are playing fine on the Touch. I can live with this 'dangling assumption' about the Vista box being the culprit. Luv the Touch.
