Hello all, I have a question. I currently have my touch synched to my desktop but now I want to change it to my laptop since I seem to be using my laptop more and more. I do not want to lose what I have on the touch, songs, and apps and what not. I know I can re-get the ones that where free, but the ones that I have paid for does apple keep a database of those so I can re-get them again, and next how can I take the tunes off the touch then do what I have to to make it work with the laptop now. Now I see that the new version on iTunes has a thing called home sharing, can some explain what that is by chance.

I think that when you plug in your touch to the laptop (After backing it up of course to the desktop), it will allow you to re-register (unsure of the proper term here) to that laptop, and say something like "this ipod has now been registered to 2 out of 5 max computers.."... so it should sync OK, and then download all the current stuff on your touch to the laptop.. you should be good to go.

I have never heard of the 2 of 5 registrations info stuff. It tells me that the iPod is synched with another computer and then it asks me if I want to erase the ipod and add then use the laptop as the host or what not. Can you explain the 2-5 thing as well.

How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer

Here're the instructions from Apple. iTunes has an option to "Transfer purchases" which will move all your purchased music, apps, etc. to a new computer. Make sure you follow the directions carefully, and don't erase your iPod.

as for the 2 of 5 thing,
I had purchased an iPod Touch, and my old G4 imac I had it synced to died. Then a friend gave me an old powerbook (g4) and when I went to sync the touch to that computer, that's when it said something about this was the second of 5 I could sync to.. As far As I remember.. Hey, I'm 61 now, and my memory is shot! LOL..

But I'm pretty sure it said something like that..
