I'm trying to update my apps but I am having issues logging in. I use to have a comcast.net email address when I first purchased the phone but have since switched to gmail. When I click to install an update and am asked to log in (to iTunes) it shows the old comcast.net address as my username and then I get an error on the password entered or an unable to purchase error message.
However, the store settings on my phone have my username as the gmail address and I am able to sign in and see my account info.
So I thought maybe I have two accounts. I went to Apple.com to get my password for the comcast.net account but when I plug that email address I get an error message saying it doesn't exist in their database.
So how exactly do I resolve this? I just want everything on my gmail address.
Thanks

To add more info, when I open iTunes on my phone I am logged in via the gmail account.

maybe doing a full restore via itunes will wipe whatever account remnants are in the iPhone.

Do you mean Reset, in the General tab of the settings? And if so which one, the All Settings or Network Settings and if I do it what does that wipe out?
Thanks for the quick reply.

not in the iphone's settings, but in iTunes itself, with your iPhone connected. There's a way to nuke everything on the device and start fresh. Backing up, updating, and restoring your iPhone and iPod touch software
However, maybe you should try just a regular sync of some content (apps, tv/music/movs) to your iphone that you've purchased under your new itunes login information. Perhaps this will push the new login/ID info to the device without you having to start fresh.
Or try this on iPhone: settings > store > sign out. Now sign back in using whatever credentials you want.

I'd agree with Cold Warrior; try a hard reset. Nice purge never hurts once in a while
