Hello, I have recently been having trouble watching some movies that I bought in iTunes on my iPhone. I bought Star Trek and an episode of family guy, both in HD. I synced them to my phone, but when I try to play them, it says this movie cannot be played. I have bought other things, such as Blow and THX 1138 on iTunes and they will play just fine. Both of those are SD however. I was wondering if there is anything I can do about this. My iTunes is the current version, and my phone is also up to date, running 3.1.2. It is an iPhone 3G

I don’t know exactly how this works, having never purchased movies from the iTunes store; but every HD movie should come with an SD version of the movie for iPhone/iPod, as well, since iPhones and iPods can’t play HD movies (if I recall correctly, the maximum size an iPhone 3G can handle is 1500 kBit/second).
If it downloads the SD version as a separate file, are you sure you synced the SD version to your iPhone?

It only allows you to select the movie and it should sync the SD version. For playback on your computer, in iTunes settings you set it to play either SD or HD versions. My only guess is the downloads for the SD versions didn't complete or are corrupt? Re-download them, maybe?

I checked in the movies folder, and both SD versions are there, and both play in quicktime. There is only one icon in itunes for each HD item however, so im not sure how to choose the SD version
