I am looking for a small battery-powered speaker for my 3G iPhone.

Try iHome speackers. They are small, powerful and easy to carry. They have rechargable batteries via a USB lead and plugs into computer and iPhone. Expand to give better base. Cost about £35.

Check out the Griffin Aircurve for iPhones.

Adds extra dBs to your iPhone's music.. The AirCurve is a cleverly-designed acoustic amplifier that collects and amplifies the sound from your iPhone's built-in speaker and projects it into the room, without electricity.

The AirCurve is made of translucent polycarbonate that highlights the ear canal-inspired wave guide, A handy pass-through cable slot lets you insert a docking cable into it and charge or sync your iPhone from your computer or charger. It's ideally suited for desktop use, turning your iPhone into an alarm clock on your nightstand, or a mini sound system that doesn’t require batteries or adapters.

I need a speaker I can carry around with me and use in a noisy environment on a daily basis. Preferably it would have good battery life, decent acoustics, would be extremely portable and would look nice.

The answer: Altec Lansing Orbit M3. It's perfect.

Way better battery life than the Philips speakers it replaced. Better sound too. I didn't need stereo, so why 2 speakers instead of one?
