iPod Not Recognized

Hi all.
About half the time I plug my iPod Touch in to sync, I get an error that the iPhone isn't recognized and has a problem. I've restored it and that seems to fix the issue for a while, but then it comes back. (I also ran Diskwarrior, which found and fixed heaps of problems on my system). Before I head down to the Apple Store, I'm wondering if setting it up as a new iPod might make a difference. Is it possible that the backup is somehow causing the problem and when I restore it, I'm just moving bad stuff back over from the backup?
Does anyone have any advice?

Yes, try a Restore before you go in.
It's also possible you have a bad cable. Do you have a second cable to test with?

Do you mean that I should wipe it and set it up as a new iPod? Just doing a restore didn't seem to help.

Right. Set it up as new, don't restore from a backup.

I'm 99% sure this is a bug in either iTunes 9 or iPhone OS 3.1.x.
I've been seeing it happen on several iPhones used with different computers and connected through different cables.
In my experience if you acknowledge the error and then tell iTunes again to sync it will work the second time.

I have suspected that, as well. What happens with me, though, is that I get the error repeatedly, so it pops right back up as soon as I acknowledge it. The only thing that stops it is to unplug and re-connect my iPod.

And also, you can try disabling your antivirus. Perhaps your antivirus is blocking itunes from syncing with your ipod.

Oops! That's what I get for working with both OS's too much. Sorry about that!

Heh. Yeah. No anti-virus on this machine.
And BTW, so far so good, still.
