I consider it lack of etiquette to join a board with the specific purpose of advertising. I call that spamming. IMHO it's regardless of the fact if said service is a commercial offer, a plea to save the world, or getting people to take part in a survey. Had you posted this as a previously active member/contributor I wouldn't object, but signing up specifically to spam? No go.

Note that members who want to participate in the market place or advertise iPhone apps they wrote themselves are expected to have contributed to the board prior to advertising too. IMHO this case is no different.

Do you consider it spam if somebody joins the board with the specific purpose of soliciting help with their Apple product technical issue?

Spam, for me, equals a mass post-and-run. This is clearly not that. There's no need to be the grumpy forum member here who also complains about users reposting topics that were covered on the forum 5 years ago.

I've filled out the survey.

It was a bit long and seemed repetitive, but I filled it out. Note that all the questions regarding influencing your parents to buy for you, well... I bought my dad an ipod.

What do we do if we have/use more than on iPod?
