Is Apple simply using a better touch screen, or is it a combination of software + touchscreen? I'm amazed at how superior the results are compared to the other phones. I have no particular preference when it comes to cell phones, I consider them a necessary evil, but the difference in the test results is astounding.
The Droid is downright scary.

They're using different apps with different built in smoothing. They claim they picked apps that do minimal smoothing but they didn't mention how they determined that.
Why does everyone keep testing diagonals (not a typical gesture except maybe for pinch) rather than up/down/left/right?

Because that's the best way to gauge accuracy. By far the most interaction is single presses, and things like keyboard response and interface annoyance are directly related to whether pressure on the screen is sensed where you're pointing, or whether the signal is deflected several mm to a different area by a coarse grid that the lesser screens are obviously divided into for sensor processing.

Interesting; I never considered how complicated a touch screen--especially that of the iPhone--really is. All I know is that it works
