I just updated the ipod software to 4 and now all of my 1000+ songs all gone. Does anybody know how i can retreive my music? And no i dont have the music in my libray and yes i backed my ipod up before i updated the software

Just select the music you want in iTunes again and sync.

Well...

If you don't have access to your music, and it's deleted off your iPod, it's gone.

well i backed it up before i updated. the full back up. now i have this loan xml file. im sorry i just switched from a mac

Sorry, missed the fact that you don't have the music. How did you back up? With Time Machine? Do you have the original song files somewhere: MP3, AAC files, etc.?

So you mean you have an iPod backup. You can try restoring your entire iPod from that (select your connected iPod in iTunes and click Restore), but where are your original music files?
