I have purchased the iphone 4 recently and i have heard about the possible "OS" issues regarding the reception signal issues and have been able to fully recreate it on my phone, however, this seems irrelevant if the phone isn't on to begin with.

Day 1 - 1 crash. Day 2 - 1 crash. Day 3 - 3 crashes. Day 4 - 2.

This makes, absolutely no sense to me at all - and it is just dastardly random. It just does not make sense.

Should i do a restore even though i JUST got the damn phone?
Is there going to be an update?
Is this frequent for anybody else?

Please post how often your phone crashes, and/or ways to fix the damned thing.

Thank you.

Haven't had a crash yet. I would say you should try a full restore now. If it doesn't solve the problem, you got a bum unit and should return it ASAP.

That amount of crashing is definitely not normal.

Just wait a few years... my 1st gen iPhone crashes about every 5 minutes until the battery dies from rebooting.

What do you mean by crash, app crashes or spontaneous phone reboot?

Either way if it's that frequent, I'd try a restore and set up as a new phone. Then manually reinstall and reconfigure everything (don't restore from a backup).

If that doesn't fix it, make a list of all the things you've tried, then see Apple about a replacement unit.

My iPhone 4 locked up for 5 hours today on a constant vibrate until it ran out of battery. It seems ok now, but if it does it again, I'll clean restore, and if that doesn't prevent it a third time, I'll ask Apple to replace it.

By reboot i mean meeting the criteria of a) having to hit start and home at same time for 13093840398 seconds until ti turns on after shutting off randomly on you.

b) having plugged into itunes and saying "in recovery" mode.

This happens to me, countless amount of times, and now after the restore its happened again after an average 5 hour streak of not crashing on me.
It's pretty silly to me, and i dont think this is bearable. Seriously.

Either these phones are defective or my phone is literally retarded.

EDIT: I decided i'm just going to give it a total of one more chances, and then i'll call it quits and try to return this thing or something, because this simply doesn't make sense if i have half the space being taken up, and literally 3 apps always running in my multitask tabs. Silly, stupid issues, along with this "menial" antenna thing.

I'd give that a try, but for some reason i just doubt that is the issue.

I shall try to exchange it after it shoots out on me if i do yet another restore..

Sometimes a small few units can have issues that the rest don't. Sounds like you got one of those units. What you are experiencing isn't indicative of all iPhone 4's. Just cut your losses and go get a new one. There's no reason to deal with the crashes when its not normal.

Why make things harder than they need to be?

Yep. Don't stress about it any more. Call/visit Apple, list out what you've done, and ask for a replacement. Sounds like a lemon.

Getting a new iPhone resolved the problem, it was definately a hardware problem.

Thank you all for your help, regardless. I appreciate it.
