Any recommendations on where to send my iphone 3Gs to replace the glass? LCD is fine.

Are you willing to replace it yourself? There are a number of businesses that'll sell you the glass and (IIRC) the tool(s) necessary to remove the old and put on the new.

Dog stepped on the ex's phone and cracked the glass. Apple replaced hers for free. It was kind of a crappy refurb though. The mute button disengaged itself rather quickly.

From what I hear, this isn't too hard to do on one's own. OP, I assume your AppleCare lapsed?
