How do you guys have this setup? I have a folder in "my pictures" setup for syncing, but my pics I take on my iphone get synced to no where? Do I HAVE to sync them to iphoto? Are they automatically backed up when I sync my iphone into somewhere lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated on how you guys all have this setup

As far as I know, you need to manually have iPhoto download the pictures from your phone into iPhoto. I think that's your only choice.
