It's freakin' awesome.
Griffin Technology: A-Frame - Tabletop Stand for iPad
Pros:
Built like a tank.
Attractive design. The aluminum compliments the iPad as well.
Won't slide on the table when you're working the pad.
Rubber cushion fits a case (though I use mine nekkid), accommodates a sync/charging cable, and has a divot carved out of it for the speaker. Well done Griffin!
Cons:
The Griffin logo is ugly and big. At least in this context.
I'm worried the cat will rub on the iPad and pitch it forward.
Sharp corners.
'spensive.

Very nice looking stand. Looks like it would fit my office very nicely; but boy, you're not kidding about that price. Doesn't look like it from the pictures, but is there a way to run the dock cable thru the stand to keep the iPad charged as you're working at a desk?
Thanks for the review!

Yes!
I envisioned it only being chargable in landscape mode, so I was pleasantly surprised by this. It's only supporting the iPad where the stands are, the rest is hollowed out so you can run a charging cable and hear the speaker. Very thoughtfully engineered.
FWIW, current Amazon price is $37.

An update:
1) The cat definitely likes rubbing the stand, as evidenced by all the hair on it, but hasn't gone for the pad itself as far as I can tell.
2) To my eyes, with the iPad sitting on top of it in portrait mode, the whole thing just looks too tall. If it's going to be on it for any length of time (like charging), I put it there in landscape. Even though you can see the cable, the whole setup is just more aesthetically pleasing.
