I managed to completely screw up the contacts on my iPad. There are duplicates, incorrect information etc. However, the contacts on my mac and my iPhone are good since I haven't synced since my contact list disaster. I haven't synced my iPad for fear that my garbled contacts will overwrite the good information and then make its way to my iPhone the next time I sync that. Nooo!

My iPad is set to automatically sync all that information when I connect it to my computer. Is there anyway I can prevent that and replace the information on the iPad with the good list on my mac? The only way I can think of is to "Erase all Data" on my iPad and restore from a backup--but if there is any easier way of course I'd prefer that. Thanks!

When you connect your device, in iTunes, select the device on the left and click the Info tab. Scroll all the way down to the Advanced section. There you can select to have the contacts overwritten on the iPad only on the next sync.
