Apple afraid of a shattering followup to its Antennagate woes? -- Engadget

Reports are coming in that slide-on (non-bumper) cases can scratch the glass on the iPhone 4 to the point it shatters.

Surely this would have hit the 'net with video or pictures like antennagate did.

It is mighty quiet.

OTOH, you have a combo of lots of bumpers floating around, and that cases often stay on the phone.

This just in. Water is wet.

The front and back are glass. It can shatter. I have no doubt that a perfect combination of grit, plus a tight case, and a bit of pressure could shatter the back.

We've been repairing them, but so far it's been 100% dropped phones.

Sorry everyone.
