Is there a way to make the iPhone screen flash when new email arrives?

Being deaf - (obviously) tones do not work - but having the peripheral vision of an owl I do notice light changes.
(vibration is okay if the device is connected to me or on my chair but ...)

thanks all!

I don't think there is a standard setting.

You'd probably need to find a 3rd party app that checks your IMAP account and then triggers that action.
I don't know of an app that does that.

I don't know of that sort of app, but it makes all sorts of sense. Like having more distinctive vibration patterns would help a user with some sort of impairment of vision, having a visual indication would help anyone with a hearing impairment. Sounds like something "someone" should work on. Like Apple; their accessibility adaptations may not be everything everyone could need, but they're usually pretty good at trying.

Vibration in IPhone has only one time and there is no choice of how many vibration to alert me that I want. Also, no small flash alert of new emails/text as Blackberry does when leave device on the table/desk where it can be visible. Many times I missed new emails/text messages until much later.

I find that when my email downloads new email, it will give a quick vibration as well as a beep. Is that good enough?

I use Pushmail which makes a new email screen pop up on the screen similar to SMS messages. It works well with Mobilme, Yahoo, or Google email addresses.
