I've been flipping through google and saw some things people said about how they charge their ipods. Twice, I found people said the ipod should be on, but in sleep mode while charging, but they just said "Trust me on this". I was hoping I could find a reason why this should be the case.
To clarify, putting the ipod to sleep just means pushing the power button once. If you want to turn the device off completely, you press and hold that button until the "shut down slider" comes up on the screen, and there you can fully power off the ipod touch. It seemed like there was some confusion about the comments I read on this subject.
It would seem to me if the usb power coming into the device could go 100% to the battery, it would charge faster. But if it has to trickle power to the device while it's asleep while powering the battery, I'd think it would take longer to charge....but the opposite seems to be true.
The other night I drained my ipod totally, and made sure it was off while it charged, it took like 5 hours to charge. Normally, I'll let it get down to about 15% power, and I'll charge it up for like 30 minutes while it's sleeping, and the power bar shoots up to 80%. Why does the battery seem to respond so well to sleep mode?
I get the impression there are some cells of the battery that are just harder to charge than others...what's really going on here?
