I don't know if anyone else read the news, but select TJ Maxx and Marshalls stores will be selling 16GB 3G iPads for $399. That's $100 off retail price.

No information on which stores will be carrying them, though.

Edit: Maybe it's not the 3G version. But still, good price.

It's the wifi version. I guess the distribution channel has a lot of surplus to dump.

Purportedly, SJ has said that T.J.Maxx/Marshalls is not an authorized reseller. Not sure how that would effect any warranty claim.

It will probably be as covered as any iPhone you buy on eBay with some apple care left over: the countdown starts when it was bought from Apple.

Besides, Who would buy an expensive tablet that is going to be obsoleted in a couple of months?

Looks like Apple is reducing stock in existing iPads prior to the announcement of iPad 2.

No go in Phoenix area, Arizona.

At $399, I'd have jumped on this, even though I planned on waiting for ver. 2.

TJMax definitely got a lot of free advertising out of this!

My wife called the one in South Bend on Friday after reading the tweet about it.

Wife: Hello do you carry electronics?
TJMax: yes we do but if your calling about the iPad, no.
Wife: thank you

Wonder how many people called before us!!
