They had a great deal - Eastcoast region, like $19. But.. unlike a conventional TomTom, Garmin, etc.. the iPhone does not have built in Sat. antennas. So.. if it must track off the cel towers; where then does AT&T bill you from: Minutes or Data?

BTW: Skobbler is a free Nav. app ... and these also work on my iPad - just in the smaller format.

Um... all iPhones after than original iPhone 2G has built-in GPS.

Nearly every smartphone since 2007 has had built in GPS.

Even if your phone lacks GPS, location triangulation from cell towers is free.

Well I guess it might use some data to download updated lists of tower locations.
