Stabile | iPad Stand | THOUGHT OUT Company
Meh.
The center of gravity is low enough that the cat won't pitch it over, so it's got that going for it. In another way, it's just too low. There isn't enough metal in the arms for them to be rigid, so there's significant spring when you tap on your iPad*. I don't really like the shape either, especially the teardrop hole for the cord. On top of all this, it's not exactly inexpensive.
It's nicely machined and bead-blasted, but overall still gets a big hearty meh. The previously reviewed A-Frame is superior in almost every way.
*If you've ever used a laptop on a Griffin iCurve, it feels exactly like that. Yuck.

I disagree. Stabile stand is one of the most balanced iPad stands on the market. I've used many stands and nothing comes close to the Stabile in terms of durability matched with simple design. Furthermore, Stabile is all American made. But hey, this is my opinion. Peace, Sam

If by balanced you mean it won't tip over, I agree, and say as much in my review. In terms of locking the iPad down when you use it, that's just not the case.
The Stabile flexes, the A-Frame doesn't. It's that simple

Is there a domestic alternative? I'm sick and tired of all my money going overseas to finance foreign jobs…

To be specific here, it isn't just a flex problem. All the force (plus most of the substantial weight of the stand) gets transferred to the rubber grippy nibblets in the back. These compress, and the whole stand rolls slightly.
You even hear a metallic ping as the front nibblets come off your desk.
If you smash the base down as hard as you can, there's still flex in the arms, so better nibblets aren't necessarily a complete solution.
