Hi All,

I was just talking to a rep for my mobile phone company (O2, in the UK), and we happened to take a look at my data usage for the last few months. I was shocked to find out that a recent month's data usage (over their mobile network) was over 1.7GB!! When I got this phone (iphone 4), typically my usage was 200-400MB a month, but there I can see a steady increase, even though I haven't changed my usage habits (no tethering, for example):

Sept 10: 400MB
Oct 10: 260MB
Nov 10: 520MB
Dec 10: 710MB
Jan 10: 1.1GB
Feb 10: 1.7GB
March 10: 790MB (a drop, but still double what I'd expect)

What in the world could be happening? I'm just lucky I'm on a tariff where I'm not being charged extra for all that data (I should be, when I bought the phone, I was told I'd be limited to 500MB a month, but now that I check the account, it lists me as having "unlimited" data, which is also strange).

I'd really love to find out what is going on, can anybody guide me as I try to figure this out?

One thing that _might_ be involved is I see in my iPhone address book's "Groups" area that I've got hundreds of groups called "Quicklist", and when I delete a contact from a "Quicklist" group, it can take up to 30 seconds. I do have "Push" data turned on (for Mail, Contacts, Calendars and Bookmarks), could these excessive data transfers have something to do with all of these "Quicklist" address book groups? And if yes, how the heck do I remove them?

I'd really like to find an app that tracks all data usage on the iPhone, anyone know of anything like that?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Chas

ps. I just noticed that all of these large data transfers (in my itemised bills) are taking place very often at exactly midnight, and the others are happening in the very early hours of the morning, long before I get up
